Are you ready to become an engineer?

That's okay. We would love to fill you in on all the things you want to learn.
Here are some information to help you decide.
EN.G.IN is created upon the mission of promoting engineering among girls and, consequently,
tackling the issue of the lack of female representation in STEM-related careers. EN.G.IN. fulfills
its mission by providing the middle school girls from Berkshire county with expert lectures,
successful role models, and a strong network of like-minded peers. The program also considers
families and teachers of the participants a part of the mission by providing them with EN.G.IN
programming and resources, which focus on supporting young women in engineering and other
STEM-related careers.
For two months, between April 1st, 2021, and May 31st, 2021, the EN.G.IN program will engage
middle school girls, their families, and teachers in engineering. Middle school girls will complete
engineering hands-on activities, meet successful female engineers, and peers from the
community. EN.G.IN will also address the lack of encouragement of girls’ interest in STEM by
providing families and teachers with easily accessible resources that will help them further their
daughter’s/student’s interest in STEM. The project will consist of separate sessions for girls and
adults. All the participants will receive extra resources to advance their knowledge received
during the program.
Participants will apply to EN.G.IN by submitting a short application. Fifty to seventy-five middle
school girls from Berkshire county schools will attend all the parts of the program, practicing
teamwork and forming connections with like-minded students and adult speakers.
The student part of the EN.G.IN would include four bi-weekly synchronous sessions and
asynchronous work in between the main sessions.
The first meeting will take place at Miss
Hall’s School on the first weekend in April (April 3rd-4th). The last meeting will be on May 22,
the official closing of the event. In each session, girls will learn about one of the four kinds of
engineering included in the event (chemical, biomedical, aerospace, and civil engineering).
Skilled female engineers from the Berkshire county will lead the session, share their
experiences of being a female engineer, and conduct engaging hands-on activities that will
promote girls’ interest in engineering.
